Mentoring a college student: Project Management Case-Study

This spring I was asked by a student, Derek Mulvey, at Steven’s Institute in Hoboken (Howe School of Technology Management) to participate in several interviews about an IT project I had led for a brokerage firm in NYC.

The student needed a large project from the real world to analyze and report on as a case-study for his term paper.

The result was an extensive paper (100 pages!) which included his critical evaluation and lessons learned from my project, as well as future recommendations.

PMs interested in mentoring might consider this kind of off-the-beaten-path opportunity at your local college or university.

Thanks for reading my blog and for your comment. It was fun working with a college student, helping him with his school project, and gaining his perspective. Is mentoring what drew you to this post? Best regards, Jeff
